In addition to creating sites manually, you can upload them from a CSV file. This is helpful if you already have your own database with many sites. Uploading saves you time when creating and updating already existing sites.
CSV (Comma-Separated Values) is a text format designed to represent tabular data. It can be exported from modern spreadsheet software.
Open the Addresses page.
To upload a file, click the upload button next to the buttons for adding clients and sites.
Here you will see the description of all available columns. Download a sample file and format your CSV file using it as a template.
You can use any spreadsheet program to create the file. In this example, we use Google Sheets.
Download the sample file and open it in your spreadsheet program.
You can also import/open the sample file directly if your software supports it.
The table should look similar to this.
If you plan to update sites later through CSV uploads, you will need to fill in the external identifier column. For example, during the first upload, a site will be created with identifier 1. In subsequent uploads with the same identifier, instead of creating a new site, the fields of the already existing site with identifier 1 will be updated.
If a site belongs to a client, don’t forget to specify the client's external identifier; this will link the site to the existing client in your Planado.
After filling out the table, download it as a CSV file.
Make sure that your file uses semicolons as separators.
Compare your resulting file with the sample. If the format matches, you can upload the file to Planado.
Note that the delimiter between fields must be a semicolon (;). Some programs might save the file with commas instead of semicolons. Such a file cannot be uploaded.
After selecting your file, click the "Upload" button. Depending on the number of entries, the system may need a few minutes to process the upload.
The result of the upload will appear at the top. If successful, one new site will be created, and two updated.
Uploaded sites will be displayed under Addresses → Sites.
If the file format is wrong or contains errors, an error message will be shown instead of the upload results.
Compare your file with the sample, check the encoding, and try uploading the file again.
These are some potential problems with uploading clients and sites:
Fields have a maximum character limit. Files exceeding these limits will cause an error.
The file lacks the "Name" column, which is required for uploading sites.
Incorrect encoding. Use UTF-8 encoding for the files.
Wrong delimiter used. Use a semicolon (;) as the field separator.
Uploading clients is described in separate instructions.
